Sisterhood of Beth Jacob Synagogue is open to all members of the synagogue.
Beth Jacob Synagogue members can support Sisterhood activities by contributing a $15.00 donation to the Sisterhood Kitchen Fund and or/by volunteering their services to Sisterhood programs, fundraisers and activities.
Through out the year Sisterhood volunteers:
- Provide Kiddushim following the services
- Assist with silver polishing Torah ornaments and other ritual items
- Assist with purchasing equipment and supplies for the synagogue kitchen
- Phone synagogue members to notify them of funerals
- Support the Sophie Kanee Library
- Assist with the mailing material to synagogue members
- Make Hamentaschen for Purim and for the Purim baskets that are distributed to the senior members of our Community
- Assist, as required, in the Gift Shop, selling a wide variety of Judaica items to Beth Jacob members and the general public at a very reasonable cost.
In 2009-10, our activities began with our Sisterhood Luncheon Social Kitchen Fund Fundraiser - $15.00 donation - in the fall.
Sisterhood also held three other fundraisers:
- Hanukah Gift Auction
- Spring Community BBQ and bake sale
- Personal donations to the Sisterhood Kitchen Fund in honour or in memory of a loved one
All Sisterhood events and programs are open to the Beth Jacob members.
