Isaac and Celia Berenbaum Talmud Torah
Welcome to the Isaac and Celia Berenbaum Talmud Torah.
The Isaac and Celia Berenbaum Talmud Torah offers a curriculum of supplementary Jewish education in a challenging and enjoyable atmosphere. Our school aims to train our students to become creative thinkers, grounded in Torah, tradition and community outreach. Each year, the students embark on new learning initiatives geared towards the ultimate goal of becoming knowledgeable Jews committed to living a Jewish life.
Our Hebrew School currently operates two days per week for students in grade 2 - grade 7 and one day a week for the nursery/kindergarden/grade 1 class.
Our program consists of the following learning areas:
Hebrew Reading and some Hebrew Language Development (grades 2-7)
Jewish Holidays, Customs, and Traditions
Bible Study and Jewish History (grades 2-7)
An appreciation for the State of Israel
A post Bar/Bat Mitzvah class is offered once a week. The curriculum for this program is currently under revision.
In addition to our regular studies, the school arranges a variety of special events each year. The students' participation increases their awareness of Jewish experiences. Some highlights of our program include:
Festive holiday events including the celebration of Sukkot in the Sukkah, a Tu B'Shvat seder, Purim parties and a mock Passover seder
Community wide celebrations during Chanukah and Yom Ha'atzmaut
The Isaac and Celia Berenbaum Talmud Torah maintains a small student/teacher ratio. We strive to recognize the individual needs of each student to ensure that all students achieve their maximum potential.
By the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah, our students have a sense of Jewish belonging and identity while at the same time feeling comfortable observing and participating in synagogue rituals and services. Preparation for Bar and Bat Mitzvah is also a service provided by our synagogue.
